Emily Stifler, a long-time friend of SheJumps, is on a mission and wanted to share her jump with us.
Emily's recent climb (video to the right) was just a warm-up for her and her two climbing partners who plan on scaling a huge wall in Canada—a free climb of the entire Original Route (VI 5.9+ A3) on the Southeast face of Mount Proboscis. This 2000′ wall is in the Cirque of the Unclimbables, Logan Mountains, Canada. The excerpt below was posted by Emily, so cool!  For more about their adventure, visit http://cirqueladies.wordpress.com.

We spent six hours on Thursday afternoon planning our trip in the Yosemite cafeteria. Tourists and climbers sifted in and out, and we hashed through gear, food, the driving route, blog info and photos.

While we were spread out across the tables, we talked to a couple from outside of Portland, Oregon. They asked what we were up to, and why on earth we had laptops in Yosemite. We explained our trip.

“When I was a little girl, women could only be teachers or nurses. Now they can be anything,” the woman said. “I met a woman who is a helicopter pilot last week. It tickles me.” She told us about being a part of the San Francisco women’s movement in the ’60s.

We also met a woman from the Tioga Pass Resort named Julia. She said when she started climbing in 1982, three women climbing an El Cap route together was unheard of. We’re so psyched it’s a regular thing for us. She told us: “Do everything you can in your twenties or thirties. Just don’t stop, because you never know when you’re going to get hurt.”

How cool to be able to connect with women of all different ages and interests through our trip.
